Slope of a trend line

Why does the slope of a bullish or bearish trend line tend to remain unchanged? Why isn't a trend parabolic for instance with a smoother and more logical(at least to me) transition from an accumulation phase to a distribution phase and vice versa ?

Thanks,

Trend Line Slopes

There are times when there are spike reversals but generally speaking I think the trends do weaken before reversing.

I very often redraw the trend lines to accommodate the weakening trend and you should see examples of that in many of the charts that I post.
