I want to have a go at buying and selling shares online?

How do I get to know the basics of trading in simple terms. I have very little knowledge and would like to do it in my spare time.

Do I need loads of money to start out?

Is it possible to just jump in and start buying and selling?

Im not talking major money but I would like to have a go and see if I have what it take to earn a few quid. Does anyone know if there are any sites that u recommend to steer on to the right track and what cowboys to stay away from as im sure there are plenty out there.
